Site Owner Hugo Rivera



Hello. My name is Hugo Rivera and the purpose for creating this site was to help dispel the myths on how to build a great physique and show you the correct way on how to get it. With so much disinformation out there inserted by people whose only interest is to empty your wallet, it is difficult for someone that is starting out to figure out what needs to be done in order to get the body they want. Because I was in this boat fourteen years ago, I decided to create this site and share with you all of the knowledge that I have accumulate over the past fourteen years on how to get in shape.

Biography

Hugo A. Rivera, a University of South Florida graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and also a Trainer Certification from the ISSA, was born December 5, 1974 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. As an overweight child he experienced at an early age the feelings of insecurity that come along with obesity as well as the scorn and ridicule from the people around him. After going anorexic at the age of 13 and losing a total of 70 pounds in less than a year, he was taken to a nutritionist by his concerned parents in an effort to stop the anorexic cycle. This nutritionist mentioned one thing that would change Hugo's outlook on dieting forever: "Eating food will not make you fat; only abusing the quantities of the bad foods will." After listening to that statement, Hugo decided to kick the anorexic habit and to dedicate his life to studying the effects of foods on the human physiology.

By the age of fifteen Hugo's interest in how food affects the shape and the form of your body naturally led to an interest in the area of exercise, something that led him to become an avid natural bodybuilder.

Discovering early on that there wasn't much realistic or practical bodybuilding or fitness advice, he went on to start recording what worked and what didn't for him. After much trial and error, he started finding principles that he noticed worked on any healthy human being. The best part of it all was his discovery on the fact that there was no necessity to stay all day at the gym in order to get results! Upset at the fact that not many people in the industry cared about trainees actually reaching their goals, he decided to create a web site and start conducting personal training during his college years in an effort to spread all of the knowledge that he had acquired.

Fourteen years later Hugo holds a Statewide Natural Bodybuilding Title (Mr. Typhoon Bay) and also a 4th Place in the Nationwide NPC Team Universe (the natural bodybuilder's highest and most competitive contest). Hugo is now considered an expert in the industry and he has dedicated much of his time to helping normal people achieve their dream figures by sharing sensible and practical knowledge that he has found over the years to work even on the most stubborn metabolisms. Hugo has shared his knowledge in his website www.hrfit.net, as well as on several articles published in Natural Muscle Magazine www.naturalmuscle.net, in online e-zines such as Dolfzine.com, www.davedraper.com, ,www.bodybuilding.com and www.bodybuilding.about.com amongst others. Also, Hugo authored a self published bodybuilding manual called Body Re-Engineering along with two best selling books published by Hatherleigh Press targeted towards the weight loss community called The Body Sculpting Bible for Men and The Body Sculpting Bible for Women (featuring the 14 Day Body Sculpting Program). Hugo wrote these books in conjunction with James Villepigue, an authority in exercise form and the connection between the mind and the muscle. In these books, both authors apply the periodization principles used by pro athletes to workouts geared for people whose main goal is to lose weight and firm up. In addition, he co-authored nutrition and training programs along with fitness icon and six time Ms. Olympia Cory Everson. He has also served as consultant to nutrition companies in designing nutritional formulas and also currently represents Prolab Nutrition by going to several nutrition stores and educating the public on training, nutrition and supplementation. Hugo's knowledge of the human physiology and anatomy (something that he was exposed to from an early age due to the fact that his grandfather was a Medical Doctor), combined with his analytical skills that he developed in his engineering profession enable him to produce extremely efficient programs that anyone can fit on their schedule. The fact that he was overweight and then extremely underweight (after the anorexic period) enables him to identify with all groups of people that have weight problems. In addition, the fact that for many years he held a steady hectic engineering job in addition to his successful online and personal training business enables him to offer practical advice that all people who live a hectic lifestyle can follow.

I have been working out and eating according to this book's plan for about six weeks now and I am very pleased with the results. I have been weight training for several months and I have tried many plans that I considered unsuccessful, but this one is motivating and effective. I saw positive changes in my body after only a couple of weeks. I work out strictly at home; I have a very basic weight bench with a barbell and several dumbbells. I have no problem using the workouts with this basic equipment. I find the two-week "cycling" of workouts and diet both refreshing and effective. I will be able to continually progress using these workouts as I get stronger.
The descriptions of the exercise techniques are the most detailed that I have ever found in a workout book. And I e-mailed the authors with a couple of questions and received a prompt, detailed and helpful reply.
I cannot praise this book enough!

The Body Sculpting Bible is the best women's weight training book I have ever read.

The authors present a vast collection of information on nutrition, motivation, and outline an exercise plan that is tailored to a woman's needs.

Unlike other books, The Body Sculpting Bible for Women is extremely well-organized, easy-to-follow, and comprehensive.

The exercise descriptions are very well written and detailed and the photos provide proper form which is key for success.

The appendix includes muscle charts, and a section on exercising during pregnancy and other special circumstances which is invaluable.

Finally, the authors present a sophisticated yet understandable training schedule which provides variety and intensity as needed.

Well done and recommended. Excellent job!

Outside of the Bible and Gone with the Wind, this is the best book I've ever read. It answered all my questions about weight lifting and nutrition. It answers when, how, why, and everything else a novice would need to know. Outstanding book!

It takes work to get in shape. It also takes a plan. The best a man can get...
This book really is the ultimate in men's fitness. The language is straightforward, clear, and concise. The guide is also incredibly comprehensive, covering everything from mental focus to nutrition to each exercise. I'm currently doing the 14-Day Body Sculpting Workout and I find it challenging and very effective. You don't need to use heavy weights as you just need to focus on proper form and "zoning in" on the muscle(s) you're working. You can almost feel your body taking shape as you progress through the workouts. Mr. Rivera and Mr. Villepigue have written a comprehensive body building program that can benefit men of all ages. Unlike other fitness and body building programs that may be unreasonable or simply unsafe, "The Body Sculpting Bible For Men" takes a simplistic, well organized, and affective approach to creating a more fit you. Finally, a book that incoorperates the latest nutrition and exercise research with a fun and easy to follow program that actually produces fast results. The psychological and biofeedback strategies chapter is ingenious and has helped me to make a better connection between my mind and my body. With extensive information about exercise form, kinesiology, myths and mysconceptions,diet and nutrition, this book puts it all into perspective while leaving out unecessary subject matter. If you are serious about your health and fitness this is a mandatory addition to your library and it is perfect of those who are training themselves or others. Not only will this guide help to create a more beautiful you but it will give you the tools to continue making fitness a part of your life for ever!

Outstanding book that covers a lot of topics.
This book has been very helpful to me in numerous ways. After just working out on my own, I found myself hitting a plateau. This book contains detailed information on how to avoid that - from a weight lifting and nutrition stand point.

In addition, the pictures and descriptions of technique are excellent. I feel that my workouts are much more efficient and effective. After 14 days (don't let the 14 day workout fool you, it's just the beginning), I've lost 15 pounds and toned up considerably. They do say, however, that this is more than the typical amount.

There are some things I didn't like: I thought that some of the chapters dealing with mentality got a little hokey, though I could see where they'd help some people. Also, much of the writing style seems a bit sensationalistic - things like, "You will burn fat faster then ever with these new proven techniques!!!". Plus, they throw quite a few scientific statistics at you (eg "You burn 300% more fat on an empty stomach"), but don't site too many resources. It's not that I don't trust them, but I'd like to see them.

To the reviewer who said it concentrated on overweight people, I only half agree. I think they do focus on it, but they also say that if you don't want to lose weight, or you're losing it too fast, eat more.

All in all, I'd normally give this around 4.5 stars, except that this is the best book out there I've found to date.
