Many times in my site and in my books I have referred to what I beleive is balanced off-season eating. In my opinion, this balance is based on a diet consisting of 40% carbohydrates, 40% protein and 20% fats (from essential sources such as fish and flaxseed oil).
However, none of the meal replacements in the market used to have that specific ratio. That is until a few months ago when Prolab Nutrition introduced its state of the art Lean Mass Matrix.
PRODUCT INFORMATION
Lean Mass Matrix is the first Meal Replacement on the market that covers the need of bodybuilders following a 40/40/20 regimen. The product is produced with low glycemic complex carbohydrates in order to avoid producing a sharp rise in insulin that would prevent the body from using fat as energy. Lean Matrix delivers 40 grams of carbohydrates from barley, brown rice, and oat flour.
It also contains no maltodextrin or corn syrups. As a bonus, 4 grams of fiber are also included in the mix.
The protein matrix consists of 40 grams of protein consisting of fast released proteins (which are delivered in the form of ultrafiltered concentrate fortified with isolate and L-Glutamine) and slower amino acid release ones like calcium caseinate and milk protein concentrate.
Finally, 8 grams of essential fatty acids are included from natural grain sources and sunflower oil.
ADDED BENEFITS
Besides the fact that the product offers a convenient way to get your 40/40/20 nutrition in, what I love the most about it is the fact that it does not require a blender. Just 14-16 ounces of water and a spoon is all that it takes to get a nicely blended shake. If I want a pudding instead, I just put half the amount of water. In addition, the flavors, especially the cinnamon oatmeal flavor, will make you think that you are going off your diet. Finally, no Aspartame or Acesulfame-K were used in the creation of the product.
CONCLUSION
Due to the fact that this product does offer awesome nutrition, convenience and great taste, I rate this product a 10 in the category of meal replacements. At this moment, I frankly do not know of any other MRP that is as advanced as this one.
